Project Description: EVC was approached by a major Czech locomotive manufacturer to offer the development and supply of a traction battery for the project of a hybrid diesel-powered shunting locomotive. The customer's motivation is to verify the technical and operational parameters of the hybrid battery solution, which can be expected to be widely used in the future due to stricter environmental requirements and economy of locomotive operations. The construction and production staff of EVC took advantage of the knowledge of the construction of electric bus drives and based on customer input, designed an energy-efficient high-capacity battery. The locomotive will operate in the test operation of CZ LOKO individual customers in the years 2019-2021. The arrangement of the hybrid locomotive drive allows for the replacement of the diesel generator with additional batteries in the future and the introduction of a pure-battery powered locomotive.
